Public impact is the combined output of research plus teaching, framed so it is measurable, scalable, and legible to partners and the university. Every year the lab hosts multiple workshops for middle and high school students, teachers, and the general public.

[People]

Public workshops in XR, 3D scanning, and AI that strengthen student motivation, identity, and pathways into design-tech fields. Neurodiversity research empowering autistic learners through AI and spatial design. Peer-led learning systems, with PeTe near-peer mentoring as an evidence-based model for retention and belonging.

[Places]

Health and wellbeing environments linking spatial decisions to human outcomes through biophilia and sensory research. Public-space activation through AR that adds value without damaging historic or social fabric. Safety and resilience through design-informed preparedness in high-stakes environments.

[Purpose]

Workforce training protocols that scale skill acquisition and safety into rural industry. Industry and community partnerships producing real deliverables, employability, and repeat collaboration. Translation and visibility: publishable evidence, toolkits, exhibitions, and narratives that make impact legible to funders and the public.
